Characters[]
Jennifer: Jennifer, or more known as Jenny from FC University, made her first appearance in FCU, but she is also one of main characters from A Royal Tale. She plays a poor and abused girl that falls in love with a prince like (Cinderella) and you might think its weird for a girl to make a appearance in one series to be a main character in a other series, but its just life (plus Jess/aphmau made it that way). She was first sent to the market after her step sisters threw away all the food she bought and the dinner she made. It was there she met Omar, who returned her money after another thief stole it. They then run into Gene, another thief who offers them a chance for a better life. Jenny had to be bribed to go with Gene threatening to rob her family's home. Once in the castle's ballroom, she falls off the railing and is caught by Garroth. They start falling in love as Garroth gives her a bath and a tour of the castle. When Garroth is forced to kill his own father for betraying the kingdom, Jenny offers to help Garroth recover from his emotional trauma. At the end of the series, they both get married.
Omar: Omar is a completely brand new character first introduced in A Royal Tale. He is very similar to or is completely based off of Aladdin from the Disney film by the same name. Not much about him is known, only that he is a street urchin who steals bread for food. Despite that major flaw, Omar is a very honest man when it comes to money. When he noticed that Jenny was stolen from, he stole her money back and returned it to its rightful owner. When the mysterious man came across the two with the promise of a new life (Or in his words, "A whole new world!") filled with happiness and royalty, Omar was more than willing to accept.
Prince Garroth: Prince Garroth was one of the first characters to appear in A Royal Tale. But this Garroth is different from Mystreet and MCD Garroth. For one, Prince Garroth has different parents than Garte and Zianna. He is the son of King Zior and his queen, who rule over the kingdom of Everlastia; the location where the series began at. The king and queen aren't Garte and Zianna, so Garroth also is not a Ro'Meave and therefore not related to Zane or Vylad. Garroth is often called Prince Charming (despite his protests) and is crushed on by many of the girls in the kingdom. He himself has a crush on Princess Aphmau and wants to marry her, but then gains interest for a peasant named Jenny. After giving Jenny a tour of the castle, he runs into his father, who is then revealed to be an evil warlock plotting to rule over all kingdoms. Zoir attempts to have Garroth on his side, only for Garroth to strike down his father. As he looks at his father's dead body, he instantly regrets what he's done, with Jenny comforting him. They both get married a few months later.
(Prince) Travis: Travis has a very different role in A Royal Tale than he does in any other series (other series Travis is usually not good with love). Travis is a god, not only that, but the god of love. This states that Travis is some sort of male version of Aphrodite or Cupid. Coincidentally, he also happens to live on Mount Olympus with the other gods and goddesses. Travis loves romance, he also is Katelyn's romantic interest. Travis is not allowed to interfere with mortals, so he cannot make them fall in love, even when ordered to do so by a king.
Princess Aphmau: In this series, Aphmau is not actually the main protagonist. Her kingdom is unknown to the fans, though she loves it all the same and clearly wants to rule it. Before the events of the series, she was in a relationship with Aaron, but that relationship turned into bitter rivalry when Aaron destroyed her kingdom's crystal. Despite this, her kingdom still thrives. Originally wanting to keep her kingdom to herself and not wanting someone else to ruin it, she and the other royal descendants were told by King Zoir that they must get married within three months or they will lose their kingdoms. She is overall against the concept of rushed marriage and knows that relationships need time. She gets even more annoyed when two people decide to marry on the spot. When told that Everlastia's crystal was stolen, both she and Katelyn volunteered to help find those responsible, only to be both denied and mocked by the king. They decided to look for the criminals anyway and Aphmau was mad at seeing Aaron again, cutting him with her sword during their battle. The two princesses went to report to the king after the bandits got away, only to be arrested themselves for disobeying him. After the other royals were allowed to leave and Aphmau and Katelyn rightfully questioning why they were leaving without them, Aphmau overheard the guards outside talking about having Aphmau and Katelyn being executed for the very crime they were trying to solve. Katelyn broke them out of their prison when Aphmau told her what she heard, which was then followed by a battle in the foyer against the bandits to protect the crystal. The battle was then interrupted by Zoir. Aphmau told the king that the bandits were the ones responsible for the theft of the crystal, only for Zane to reveal that Zoir was the one who stole his own crystal. Exposed, Zoir intended to kill them all right there, only to be killed by Garroth. During Garroth and Jenny's wedding, Aphmau was angered when Aaron told her that they could've married if she didn't care for others. She then chased Aaron away with a sword.
Princess Katelyn: She is a usual character in some roleplay series with this one not only having her as a princess for the second time, but also making her the daughter of Zeus. She also wants to rule her kingdom herself, since she is a demi-god (or demi-goddess, if you wanna be politically correct), but her wish pretty much isn't going to come true, due to the fact that the king forced them to either get a lover or not have her kingdom at all. She is merciless in battle, especially when deceived. However, she is not allowed to use her full strength in the realm of mortals. It wasn't until she and Aphmau were framed for a crime they were trying to solve that she decided to break the rules.
Gene: Gene is another multi-series character. In this series, he portrays Flynn Rider from Tangled. Right now, he found Omar and Jennifer and promises them a new life with royalty and happiness, which the two greatly accept. He later admitted that he was a thief.
Zane: He is a sorcerer who works for the king, but also plans to do something to the crystals of all the kingdoms in the land; He tried to steal the crystal of Garroth‘s kingdom but failed, as the crystal mysteriously vanished during his attempts. He managed to escape and was on the run from a crime he technically didn't commit. He was however mischievous enough to call Garroth a peasant before teleporting away a second time. He is portrayed as an Anti-Hero, as it is believed his character is evil when in reality he is actually fighting for a good cause, alongside Aaron, Sasha, Lucinda, and Lo.
Aaron: A usual character, but also a bandit that wants to steal Everlastia's crystal. Either he does this, or "his boss" will cruelly punish his entire group. In episode 3, when Aphmau saw through his and Lo's disguises, it is revealed that he used to date Princess Aphmau, but they broke up. He's not the kindest to Aphmau and finds it amusing to mock her, but his arrogance caused him to underestimate Aphmau as she was able to cut his left cheek and slice his left arm during their battle. According to Aphmau, he was the one who broke her kingdom's crystal. He again mocks her during Garroth and Jenny's wedding, only to be chased away when Aphmau pulls out her sword.
Lo: A Minecraft Diaries counterpart only character, he also is another bandit that wants to steal the crystal. It isn’t actually known if his name is really “Lo” however, since his Diaries counterpart used it to hide his real name.
Sasha: You may of heard of her, she's a two series character from Phoenix Drop High and Minecraft Diaries. She is also apart of the group of bandits that are gonna try to steal the crystal along with Aaron and Lo.
Lucinda: A major character in other series, once again being a sorceress. This is the second series of her being evil (or neutral) as the first one was Mermaid Tales (End of Finale). She's another member of the bandit group.
Princess Nana: Another princess who was summoned to Garroth's kingdom. She seems to have a keen sense for crystals. Other series refer to her as Kawaii~Chan. She was also the only person to question where Aphmau and Katelyn were once all the other royals were dismissed.
Anna: She is a shop owner who used to be royalty. She worked with Gene on a plan to get married to royalty, with Omar and Jenny coming along for the ride. She believed that if Jenny cried on a pumpkin, her Fairy Godmother would appear and turn it into a carriage.
King Zoir: He is the father of Garroth, the king of Everlastia, and the true main antagonist of the series. He first called in the Princes and Princesses from the other kingdoms to tell them that they must marry within three months, or they will not get their kingdoms. When Garroth questioned his father, Zoir brought him to their crystal explaining to Garroth that other crystals are being stolen and that those who don't marry are obviously the culprits. He trusted Zane to protect the crystal, but then noticed that Zane was trying to take it. When the crystal vanished, he ordered for Zane's arrest, to which Zane teleported away. Zoir told Garroth not to say a word of this, only for Zoir himself to admit that the crystal had been stolen to the guests. Aphmau and Katelyn volunteered to help, but he refused and even mocked them for being both women and warriors. When Aphmau and Katelyn later came to him to report what they found, he instead arrested them for leaving the ballroom. He then dismissed the other princes and princesses, only keeping Aphmau and Katelyn so that he could frame them for the crime instead of Zane and have them executed (and possibly take over their kingdoms in the process). When Aphmau, Katelyn, Zane, and the bandits discovered the crystal being in the castle’s foyer with Zoir, Zane revealed that Zoir stole his own crystal. Exposed, Zoir told them all his true intentions, to trick the other kingdoms into helping Everlastia so that he could eventually overpower them and rule all kingdoms under a single empire, devoid of all freedom. Now that they knew the truth, he was determined to not let anyone leave the room alive. He then revealed himself to be a powerful warlock, using his powers in an attempt to kill everyone in the room. Garroth came in at the right time and saw his father‘s true colors. Zoir attempted to persuade Garroth into being on his side, but Garroth chose the greater good over his father and regretfully impaled Zoir in the heart with his sword, killing him.
Unknown Boss: He is the unseen leader of Aaron's group of bandits. He intends to collect all the kingdoms' crystals for an unknown purpose and will heavily punish his lackies if they ever fail him. Had the series gotten a second season, he would’ve probably served as a major antagonist.
Trivia[]
- This series is the first series to technically not have Aphmau as the main protagonist, but still have her as a character.
- This series also has some old characters, but with roles they never had before.
- The series is highly influenced by Disney and includes tropes from several films.
- Just like Cinderella, Jenny comes from an abusive family consisting of her step mother and her two step sisters and eventually falls in love with and marries a prince. Garroth also portrays Prince Charming (and is even called Prince Charming) and his castle looks like a replica of Cinderella's. Anna also mentions Fairy Godmother and the pumpkin that turns into a carriage.
- Katelyn is basically Hercules from the film of the same name. Travis is also a god from Olympus.
- Omar is based off of Aladdin and Zane shares some traits with Jafar. Also, Nana's attire resembles Jasmine's, suggesting that she comes from a kingdom similar to Agrabah.
- Gene portrays Flynn Rider from Tangled. There is also the gag that his nose is wrong in his wanted posters. He also comments how woman usually let down their hair for him.
- Gene's nose in his wanted poster resembles Pinocchio's when he lies.
- Anna is based on the same character from Frozen. Aphmau also makes a reference to the phrase that you can't marry someone you just met.
- Princess Amelia resembles Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She even quotes that she wants so much more than what they got planned.
- There being a crystal at the heart of every kingdom might be a reference to the Heart of Atlantis from Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
- The fact that Aphmau and Katelyn are warriors and that the King of Everlastia believes it's unladylike for women to be warriors is a reference to Mulan.
- One of the guards knows and has a grudge on a guy named John Smith, which is also the name of a character from Pocahontas.
- Although an origin character, King Zoir ended up sharing some traits with King Magnifico from Wish, a movie that released several years after the series ended.
- This is one of the few series to include characters who are not created by Jess herself and instead from other properties, that being Anna from the Disney movie Frozen, and possibly Eugene/Flynn from Tangled. (Mod Mod World used Anna, Elsa, and Hans.)
- It is most likely that Irene does not exist or is not a factor in this story due to the presence of Greek gods.
- The bloodlines are quite different.
- Garroth is not the son of Garte and Zianna.
- Garroth, Zane, and Vylad are not brothers.
- Katelyn's father is Zeus instead of Eric.
- This series stands out since there is no clear primary protagonist.
- The series ended up being cut shorter than ten episodes due to it not being as popular as other series.
