"A secret...?"
Summary[]
The episode opens up with an aerial view of Zane and KC walking back to the boat after their date. Cut to them on the boat, Zane says that the date was great. He says that he didn't think he could have that much fun. Half to himself, he also states that he didn't think he could feel "that way" inside.
When Kawaii~Chan asks what way he mean, he gets a bit flustered and passes it off as mere thankfulness for a teddy bear she won him on their date. KC says that it was just luck, but he insists she deserved a bigger prize for how good she did.
She pouts, and asks if he doesn't like it. He frantically says that it's not that he doesn't like it, he just believes she deserves better. KC giggles, saying that he's cute when he gets flustered. He tries to protest, but KC kisses his cheek, which gets him even more flustered. Trying to keep his cool, he says that they should do it again sometime.
She agrees, parting with him due to her tiredness. Before she fully leaves, he calls out to her. "Goodnight, Nana," he says, switching the roles and making KC the flustered mess. He giggles to himself as she walks off. The moment is interrupted as we hear Garroth, making a sound that sounds like the combination of a giggle and a squeal. Zane looks around, but can't find him.
He heads into the boat and finds him near a wall, giggling to himself. He asks why he's giggling so loudly, and he responds that he's been giggling this whole time. He teases him by saying that they must've not heard him due to how sappy they were being. He asks how the date went, and Zane responds with saying it was great for the most part.
Garroth brings up Starry, and reveals that it was actually Ghost who was chasing them. He lies, saying that Ghost was under control. He says Zane should get rest, which he agrees and heads off to his room. After he's gone, Garroth says that he didn't want to tell him the truth, that Ghost was in fact not under control, right after his date and mess up the mood.
Back to Zane, he's about to head inside his room when he realizes that he went on a date by himself, without Aphmau's help. He squeals, eager to tell her about this.
Title card plays, and we cut to Aphmau in the kitchen. She talks to herself about how she has thought about her decision to turn into a werewolf multiple times. She reminisces about the past year, Aaron being a werewolf, his eyes, etc. She realizes how much prejudice he really has to go through, despite being the same person. She wants to show him that she can be her own person without werewolf being her main trait, to show him that it doesn't have to consume his life. He's done a lot for her, and she should do the same for him.
She gets a call from Zane. She picks up and he immediately starts bragging about how he went on a date with Kawaii~Chan all by himself. Aphmau congratulates him. He said that first, he wanted to boast about how he did it without her help. Aphmau remarks that she's proud of him. Second, he wanted to thank them for not helping.
He acknowledges that he complains and yells very often, because he relies on Aphmau, and he forgets that he does need to face things on his own. She agrees. Aphmau says that she needs to continue cooking, and hangs up. She's happy for both Zane and KC, and hopes everything goes well. Suddenly, the water that was boiling overflows.
She panics, making Aaron check up on her in the kitchen. He offers to help, but Aphmau says that it's a gift for him. He asks her what steps she's on, and she blushed and said she was only boiling the water.
Aaron says that if he helped, it'd go faster, and she gives in and gets him an apron that reads "Kiss The Cook." He protests against the apron, until Aphmau actually does kiss the cook, which is Aaron. He blushes, and she says he's cute when he's blushing. (Notice how this scene parallels the Zane~Chan scene from earlier in the episode and KC has stated she wants a relationship like theirs? Yeah, that's super cool.)
Since this is Aphmau's recipe, Aaron asks to instruct him. She does so, but her voice fades into the background as the camera pans in on Aaron. He thinks to himself that it's moments like these where they're just goofing around with each other that he does not want to lose.
Cut to a different scene with Zach on a computer. He gets a call. He picks up, and an unnamed woman with blue hair answers. She says they haven't talked for a while, despite it only being a month. Zach asks her what she wants. She says that she'll be landing in Starlight in an hour. She explains that Michael called her in, as plans have been pushed ahead further than expected.
Zach says it's not surprising with how much is going on. He states that he saw an old friend of theirs on this island. She tells him to just spit it out. He says that Dereck is there with his son. The woman laughs, saying how perfect it was. Zach continues, saying that Dereck's son is dating his daughter now. The woman gets even more thrilled. She says how much power Zach has over Dereck.
She says that they have a lot to talk about, and that she'll be meeting him when she arrives. She says to let Michael be, since if it wasn't for him, they wouldn't be where they are now.
We then get the name of the woman: Elizabeth.
Zach tells her that her daughter is on the island as well. We finally see Elizabeth's face and see she also has blue eyes, similar to Katelyn. She says that maybe she'll pay her a visit soon, and hangs up.
Back to Aphmau and Aaron, who are eating hamburgers. After a bit of talking, he asks her if she really wants to be a werewolf, and she says yes. He then asks if she's more confident. Usually she'd be uncomfortable for the rest of the night after asking such a big question, but she's seemingly completely fine. Aphmau states that she didn't realize she was going that.
She puts a hand on Aaron's cheek, blushing. Aaron simply states that he thinks a girl with confidence is sexy, and Aphmau gets even redder. He says that if she's being so honest, he's going to return the favor. She then says that when she asked him to turn her, it wasn't just for her sake, but also for his. She doesn't want him to have to go through this on his own.
She apologizes if he thought she meant something else. He says that he's been thinking about it, and says that when he's ready, he'll let her know. Switching the mood, he says they forgot to make the French fries, and says they should put her in the oven instead. He lifts her up and carries her to the kitchen, both laughing.
Cut back to Zach, still on his computer. Someone rings the doorbell. He opens the door. Zach is surprised that she actually made it, and Elizabeth says that she never lied about a vacation, though this wasn't one for either of them. He asks her, before he lets her in, where is "the kid." Elizabeth replies that he's being restrained in one of the warehouses.
Cut to them both sitting down. Elizabeth says that Michael couldn't make it, and Zach says that he hasn't seen him in a while. Elizabeth sighs, stating that there was no point in her flying out in such a hurry if he wasn't even going to show up to his own meeting.
She switches the topic to his daughter. She states she hopes they do get married, since that'll give them the upper hand on Dereck. She then says that Garte is someone else they should look out for, but then says that Garte isn't here, so they shouldn't worry about it. Elizabeth then asks how long it's been since he's seen his daughter. He said it's been 20 years. She asks if he never bothered to visit. He laughs.
Off screen, we hear a shuffling sound. The camera cuts to Zach, now with wolf ears and a tail. He stated that Sylvanna never wanted to tell her about her werewolf lineage. Elizabeth asks why she would try to hide it from her. Zach responds by saying that even though she is his daughter, Aphmau never inherited his traits. She's not a werewolf.
Elizabeth says that makes sense, since he treated Sylvanna poorly. Zach says it's none of her business, but Elizabeth says to just get over it. What's done is done. Zach says that her ex-husband is on the island as well, and she gets upset, before dismissing it. She says it does not matter, since he won't get in the way of their plans. Zach asks if there's more than one plan, which Elizabeth confirms, standing up from her chair.
She says that there are more plans in motion than he realizes, and that if it works out, they'll get everything they ever wanted. She then leaves, ending the episode with an aerial view of her walking away under a full moon.
