Aphmau is the main protagonist of ALTERNATES Season 1 and its sequel, ALTERNATES: Echoes of Us.

Biography

Season 1

She was running in the street asking for help until she sees a police officer Alternate. She then runs away from her Alternate until Zane calls her to be in his house. She managed to trap her Alternate in a shed and set it ablaze, only to turn and see that her friends have secretly been Alternates.

She was surrounded by Alternate KC, Alternate Rhys, and Alternate Kim and then she screams when Alternate Aphmau broke out of the shed unharmed and snatched her. She passed out and woke up somewhere else.

She and Travis managed to broadcast her message on TV. After they finished, Alternate Aphmau was about to get up. They managed to get in the elevator, and she sprayed Alternate Aphmau with a fire extinguisher to keep her away from them.

She hit an Alternate cop and picked up a walkie talkie to call Aaron until she heard a clicky sound and was ambushed by her bug Alternate. She managed to get in the building Aaron was taken to and asked Travis and Ivy to close the door and block the windows. As she was trying to respond to Aaron, she heard different voices.

She along with Travis and Katelyn were running away from a spider Alternate of Pierce and they managed to get in the Safe Town. Aphmau was so happy to see KC and Rhys alive. Leif, the town's mayor, told her to hand over her handheld receiver, telling her that electronics were banned in the Safe Town since they attracted Alternates.

After using a drone to follow Leif into the mines and investigating Leif's house, she and Rhys learned that Leif has been lying about the town being safe, for he was an Alternate all along. Upon Katelyn turning into an Alternate, Aphmau and Travis enter the mines to save Peebs and kill the Alternate Aphmau under the Safe Town.

Echoes of Us

Aphmau has taken a leadership role upon the Safe Town being rebuilt. After following Peebs to a gas station, they found an Alternate and fled with the supplies they managed to loot. Aphmau went back to the Safe Town alone to deliver some of the supplies, only to hear KC scream and for Peebs to run back saying that they found another Alternate Aphmau and that it took KC after Gene left him to die and ran.

Investigating where the group saw the Alternate, they found a portal. They ended up losing Dante and went back to the Safe Town to regroup for a town meeting. They then went back outside with Zena to find Dante and KC, saving the former from being eaten by the Swamp Woman.

The group then encountered Brewce and his group, who managed to find Gene. After Altfred guided Aphmau to a staircase, Zena ended up being taken, but Aphmau and Brewce saved her. A mole then ate Sasha, but Aphmau managed to avenge her by luring it into an abandoned building and killing it herself.

Aphmau then climbed the staircase and was about to jump through a portal, only for Blaze and Bahb to appear behind her as the portal dragged her inside. She found KC, but Aphmau was horrified to find an Alternate of Aaron even though he was on her and KC's side. After Bahb got Zena killed by the first Alternate Aphmau, they managed to kill it by luring it into Zane's shed and burning it, but they were dragged into a tank while being surrounded by Blaze, Bahb, and several Alternate Aphmaus.

Aphmau and the others soon found themselves at the gas station with the second Alternate Aphmau. After running the the gas station, they found an invisible barrier, and Aphmau realized that they had to kill the Alternate to leave. Unfortunately, the Alternate managed to kill Gene before Danter blew it up. It was then that Blaze revealed that he betrayed humanity and imprisoned them so that the Alternates could study Aphmau. She and the others were then sent to a subway where the third Alternate Aphmau was waiting for them. While there, Aaron's soul managed to reach Aphmau, and he told her that she was being watched and that she needed to outsmart the Alternates.

After Dante managed to get the Alternate hit by a train, they were sent back into the tank. Aphmau managed to goad Blaze into allowing himself and Bahb to partake in the fourth round. Aphmau panicked upon being sent back to the Alternate police station, for she remembered Aaron dying there. Regardless, she and the others made it their goal to reach the armory. Unfortunately, Blaze separated the group.

After killing another bug Aphmau, Aphmau, KC, Brewce, and the Alternate Aaron escaped the room to avoid breathing in the gas that knocked Aphmau out last time. They ended up someplace unfamiliar to Aphmau, but Brewce explained that was the fountain where he last saw his sister and ended up being dragged into it by a tentacle. Aphmau found Bahb and demanded answers, and he ended up showing that he genuinely saw her as a friend by lighting up the fountain and telling her that Brewce was alive somewhere else.

Aphmau managed to find Brewce and explain to him the building’s true nature. The entire group then made it to the armory and Aphmau volunteered to blow up the building while the others escaped, but they wouldn’t let her go alone. Unfortunately, a portal got the group separated again and another opened to sic a second bug Aphmau on Aphmau, KC and Alternate Aaron. Upon reaching the top floor of the building, Aphmau thought she saw Aaron, but it was his insectoid Alternate, who tried to kill Aphmau. It was then that Bahb decided to sacrifice himself so that everyone could live, with Alternate Aaron carrying Aphmau out of the building.

Upon being brought back to the tanks, Aphmau realized that they still had all their weapons, meaning they could start fighting back or even escape. However, Blaze approached them in a fit of fury and blamed Aphmau for killing Bahb, so he decided to give Peebs a slow and painful death as payback, forcing everyone else to watch. Aphmau and the others tried to break the glass to save Peebs, but their weapons were taken away to ensure his death. Missing a leg, Peebs took out an explosive and detonated it, sacrificing himself to break the others out of their imprisonment.

Personality

Like all of her incarnations, Aphmau is kind, bubbly, and friendly. She is also a supportive leader who always finds a way to make any situation better. Despite this resilience, Aphmau becomes deeply distraught when she loses her allies and her loved ones, especially Aaron, to the Alternates, with her nightmares being centered around Aaron. Aphmau has a tendency to hallucinate her dead friends, showing a sign of guilt and/or trauma. She is also willing to sacrifice herself and put herself in danger so that the others may survive, although her friends offer her their assistance.

Appearance

Season 1

She has amber-colored eyes with long mid-length raven-black hair styled in a bun. She wears a light purple open shoulders jacket, a white sleeveless crop top, blue ripped jeans shorts, and white knee length socks with light purple stripes.

Season 2

She wears a necklace with a sliver jewel and a light purple tee-shirt, unbuttoned jacket with a short sleeved white top underneath. a brown tool belt, and denim shorts. On her right leg, she wears a red cloth as a reminder of Aaron. She also has brown boots.

Trivia

• Aphmau is the first to encounter an Alternate version of herself.
• Alternates of herself are somehow more evolved than other Alternates of her friends, with one of her Alternates being the leader of all the Alternates.
• The representation of the cloth on her leg with Aaron is similar to what her MyStreet counterpart did with the red bandana during Aphmau's Year and onwards.
• Even though Aphmau didn't meet the portal-making Alternate of herself until "DON'T look Back...", it appeared in her nightmare in "It KNOWS Your Heart...".
