Gene is a major character in ALTERNATES: Echoes of Us.

Biography

Gene joined Aphmau's group at some point. After escaping a monster with KC and Peebs, Aphmau and KC scolded him for giving away their location. Gene ran off into their shelter in annoyance. Gene joined the group on a supply mission, then escaped as a group aside from Aphmau. Gene then ruined another hunt and he, KC, and Peebs ran into another Alternate, with it looking like Aphmau, and to keep it distracted, Gene shoved Peebs into it as a sacrifice so he could escape by himself.

While running away, he ended up falling into a ravine. He then encountered and grouped up with a team of three other survivors led by Brewce, and they saved Zena from getting killed by an Alternate flower. When the group lost Sasha to an Alternate mole, he couldn't care less and even belittled everyone for mourning the dead.

When he and the others were forced into Blaze's game, he finally started to go rogue. At a gas station, he questioned Aphmau's leadership and accused her of using Aaron's death as an excuse to boss him around before scolding everyone for being hopeful when the world was in the middle of an apocalypse. He even tried to make it look like their current problem was Aphmau's fault alone due to the Alternates looking like her. When they tried to warn him about the Alternate behind him, he assumed they were afraid of him and doubled down, telling them that he was going to be the group's sole survivor. That was when the Alternate pounced on him and started thrashing him until he went limp. Even if he did survive, Aphmau, Dante, and Peebs blew up the gas station to get rid of the Alternate, incinerating his body in the process.

Personality

Gene was morally grey. Few people thought highly of him, even his own brother, for he was an impulsive and dubious jerk who was devoid of hope for a brighter future. He thought only about himself, with him even willing to get other survivors killed so that he himself could live. He also couldn't care less when someone died and would rather scoff than mourn. And at the very end, he only cared about his own survival and even expected everyone else to die before he did.

Appearance

Gene has shaggy black hair and teal blue eyes. His grey jacket has rolled up sleeves, and he has a striped, purple shirt underneath. He wears a fingerless glove on his right hand and a studded bracelet on his left hand. He has black pants.

Trivia

• It wasn't stated when he joined the Safe Town, which could've been before or after the events of "It Never Forgets You...".
• "Where are you looking at?" teased his death the day before "It KNOWS Your PAST..." premiered.
• Despite no one really liking Gene, when he died everyone got upset over it.
• He is the only one of his counterparts to die, though his Minecraft Diaries counterpart is undead.
• At the police station, an Alternate of him with a hole for a face attempted to guilt trip Dante for forgetting about him and letting him die, but Peebs managed to snap Dante out of it.
