As Lords, we need to learn to smile through the darkness, to guide those who follow us. Mourning over my death will bring nothing but pain to those around you. It's hard, but if you can't find a way to smile for your people, then at least smile for me. I'll always be with you.

―Aaron in his letter to Aphmau, Season 2 Episode 84

Aaron is a protagonist in Minecraft Diaries. After rescuing Aphmau from a pack of werewolves, Aaron began secretly following and looking after Phoenix Drop from the shadows. He joined Aphmau and her comrades into the Irene dimension, set on destroying Zane. After returning to the overworld, he made it his life's mission to reopen the portal and slay Zane all while forming a deep bond with Aphmau as he taught her how to be a lord.

Biography[]

As a teenager, Aaron's father passed away and he was forced to become the Lord of Falconclaw almost immediately. He had to grow up faster than everyone else to uphold the responsibilities. Many guards served his village, but he had three main guards in which he depended on - the head guard being his father's head guard who taught him lordship and combat. The other two guards were his best friends since childhood. Aaron fell in love with Lily, the daughter of the head guard.[1]

The High Priest of O'Khasis, Zane, visited Falconclaw one day to give Aaron's son, Jacob, a cursed amulet. Jacob brought the amulet to Aaron, who took it away to scold him right before every living soul in the village died instantly in a flash.[2] While Aaron was processing the situation, Zane took the amulet back[3]. Aaron went completely numb and empty, a broken human, and turned to violence to solve his problems.[1] According to the expanse of graves outside and within the ruins of Falcon Claw, it can be inferred Aaron individually buried each and every one of his fallen villagers.[2]

One day, Aaron rescued Aphmau from a pack of werewolves[4] then later became her ally and uncovered a spy in Phoenix Drop[5]. He aided Aphmau in finding Garroth after he stole the amulet[6] and even ventured into Irene's Dimension with the group[7], defending Aphmau from Zane. However, Zane gained the upper hand, and Garroth intervened, allowing the group to escape with the two brothers left behind in Irene's Dimension.

Immediately after their return to Phoenix Drop, Aphmau stopped to talk to him and ask if he was any bit affected by the passing of fifteen years. To which he responded, "No, Phoenix Drop did not have any personal attachment to me since I didn't really get to know anyone. It would be hard for any regular human being to accept it." Aphmau asked, '' 'Regular human being?' Then what are you?'' Aaron told her that he is a 'broken human'.

Aaron later aided in the rescue of Nekoette~Tan from bandits alongside Dante and Aphmau.[8] He eventually reveals his identity as Aaron and the name of his late wife, Lily.[9]

Laurance had an incident where he lost control in his Shadow Knight form. Aaron protects Aphmau from Laurance by knocking him out, then carries the guard back to Aphmau's room to recover. He explained to Aphmau what had just occurred and why he had to knock Laurance out.[10]

Aaron's tragic past is revealed when Aphmau finds him mourning in the ruins of Falconclaw. After a flashback revealing that Zane took everything from him and his quest for revenge, she attempted to convince him to let go of his obsession with revenge and think of the people he saved.[2]

Aaron joins the group to the journey to Pikoro Village to find Lucinda and while they were at the campsite, Aaron gifted her winter clothes[11]. Before their return home, Aaron lent his demonic broadsword to Aphmau for sparring[12]. After the sparring he commented saying she fought well, but still have a lot of room to improve, and they begin to spar regularly together.

On their journey, they come across an orphaned infant, which Aphmau and Aaron adopt. Aphmau initially names her "Lily", after Aaron's late wife, but he insists they call her "Lilith" and "That's what she would have wanted". He also suggests they honor someone close to Aphmau, whom she also lost, and give her the middle name "Garnet" in honor of Garroth. Aphmau and Aaron eventually paired off together in the forest of the new settlement[13] and their child was conceived.

Later on, while they rest together in their new home with their adopted baby, Lilith Garnet, Aaron snatched the divine fragment from Aphmau that she was going to use to open the portal to the Irene dimension. When Aphmau realizes the fragment is gone, and Aaron goes missing all day, she becomes very distressed.[14]

On Aaron's final journey, he takes the divine fragment to the portal structure along with another object to open it. He was burnt badly by void burn while traversing dimensions, and protected Garroth before Zane could deal the final blow. Zane struck and shattered the second object in Aaron's hand, launching the three men out of the dimension. Back in the overworld, Aaron lunged on Zane and pinned him to a tree, holding a new object full of power that extracted Zane's relic, killing them both in a massive explosion.[15] Relics may only be removed through a great sacrifice by the one removing the relic, Aaron knew this and willingly sacrificed himself so Aphmau wouldn't have to.[16] In his goodbye note, Aaron tells her he let go of his quest for revenge and his death was not wasted on a horrible man, but a good one, being Garroth.

In "Shadows of the Past", an imp disguises itself as Aaron and Aphmau kills it in rage. In "She's Pregnant!?", Aphmau faints and later reveals to Zoey that Aaron was not just a friend, but her lover and now the father of her unborn child.

In Season 3, Aaron's body was taken by the Shadow Lord, shocking Aphmau when she learned the truth in the next episode. Despite being controlled by Shad, Aaron slowly regains control and saves Aphmau before eventually being given a second lifetime.

Appearance[]

Aaron

Aaron has black hair and eyes. His attire is entirely black; a hooded jacket, torn pants, boots, and fingerless gloves. He wears a red blindfold over his eyes, which is removed later at Aphmau's request. Unbothered by the cold, his jacket is unzipped and he wears no shirt underneath.

Personality []

Despite Aaron being secretive, mysterious, and passive, he appeared to always have Aphmau's best interests in mind as well as Phoenix Drop's. He did not join Aphmau on her journey to Scaleswind, because he felt as though he needed to stay behind to watch and protect Phoenix Drop, though he did end up following her later. Aaron showed throughout his journey that he cares for Aphmau and respects her friends despite is distant personality. Aaron was hellbent on revenge and told Aphmau he was a broken human with nothing to lose and nothing to gain, however once she got through to him, Aaron changed his mind on revenge and instead sacrificed himself to rescue Garroth.

Trivia[]

  • The name Aaron is a Hebrew baby name. In Hebrew the meaning of the name varies, and can sometimes mean "lofty", "enlightened", "exalted", or "high mountain". Biblically, Aaron was Moses' older brother (and keeper by God's command).
  • Aaron also has a habit of leaning against walls or any tall object that won't fall over.
  • In Final Fantasy X, there is a mysterious playable character named Auron. He is in many ways the party's mentor as they come to him for advice. His former ties into the past of Tidus (the main protagonist) and Braska's past. He wears a red haori, uses a large katana, and wears sunglasses. The two look similar.
  • Aaron is a few years older than Aphmau, which also means that he is older than Zane or closer to the age of Garroth.
    • In MyStreet Phoenix Drop High, the prequel to MyStreet, Aaron is revealed to be a senior student while Garroth and Laurance are sophomores, and Aphmau, Travis and Zane are freshmen. This means that he is about 3-4 years older than Aphmau, which is proven to be accurate in Season 2 of Minecraft Diaries when Aaron says he is a few years older than her, though he does not say a specific number of years.
  • Aaron is in fact voiced by Jason, Aphmau's real life husband. Aphmau also confirmed this herself in a tumblr post [17]
  • Aaron's broadsword made a return in When Angels Fall. It was revealed that the blade was poisonous to werewolves, as shown when the Aaron from MyStreet used it to slaughter Ein's pack to avenge his Aphmau. Irene then took the sword away, no longer being strong enough to have stopped any deaths that night.
  • Aaron was never meant to come back, but fans kept telling Jess to bring him back[Citation needed]. She eventually gave in and made it so that Aaron was possessed by Shad, which was not her original vision of MCD Season 3.
  • It was revealed in MyStreet "Gone" that Aaron was reincarnated into the Aaron from MyStreet, albeit with no memory of his past lifetime.
