"The Human World" is the 4th episode of Mermaid Tales. It premiered on July 21st, 2017.

Summary[]
Tavari introduces Aphmau to the sentient crab that will be helping her, named Zane. He explains that Zane will be joining her to retrieve more human hair- and that while he can be a bit of a.. 'scholar', he can be easily distracted with shiny things. Aph questions why she needs to bring him with her if she can just pull humans into the water, to which Tavari replies that she'll need his help if he's going to turn her into a human.
At the tavern, Garroth starts to 'interview' Michi for Travis. He starts off by clarifying that his 'friend' is very ugly, and Aaron stops him to ask what his plan is. Once they're on the same page- that Travis wants a girl who loves him for him, not because he's a prince,- they double down on the fact that their friend is very dumb, and very ugly. Michi seems a little charmed, and agrees to give him a shot if she can go on a date with Aaron, should things not work out. Before he can say anything, Garroth agrees and tells her to meet them at the docks tomorrow, where they'll bring their 'friend'.
Aphmau is shocked at Tavari's plan, though he calmly explains that it's so she can get more human hair, in an easier fashion. Zane almost reveals that Tavari's transformation potion has never worked, but is distracted by some gold pieces. Tavari tells her how humans have a special, innate magic that he wants to harness and use, and learn- as the king of Mariana shuns knowledge and such things. Aphmau insists she wants to learn, and Tavari gets her to agree to be human- for a day only,- to get what he needs. She drinks the potion while still underwater, and Zane quickly yells at her to swim to the surface before she drowns. She leaves, Zane tailing her, and once they're gone Tavari opens a hidden door in his grotto. He goes to a sealed box, holding a sleeping Lucinda inside, and promises that once he can make it permanent, he will make her into a mermaid.
Aaron walks down the beach by his lonesome, still bitter about getting roped into the deal with Travis. A short ways ahead of him, Aphmau washes onto the beach, sputtering and choking on water. Zane stays by her, telling her that the last mermaid that drank the potion.. he didn't make it. However, he watches her survive the transformation, and the majority of her scales disappear when it happens- making Zane wonder if it helped her survive. Aaron finds her and, after kicking Zane (who he calls an ugly crab,) into the ocean, he covers her with his jacket. He recognizes her instantly, though he's surprised to see she isn't a mermaid, and brings her onto the ship for shelter.
Ivy checks in on King Eric, though it's clear he still feels heavy guilt over what happened to Aphmau- and feels it's his fault, not Katelyn's. He laments never having properly taught her about the powers and responsibilities of having a sea crystal, and now that there's one outside the barrier.. anyone who found it could enter Mariana. He decides to check on his sea crystal, finding it safe and sound where it always sits. Except.. on closer inspection, he discovers it to be a fake, showing Katelyn and Teony's plan worked.
