"The Prince's Date" is the 9th episode of 'Mermaid Tales'. It premiered on August 12th, 2017.

Summary[]
Travis is surprised to find that Captain Garroth actually delivered on his promise and immediately begins to question Aphmau, worried that they hurt her to coerce her into doing this. She mentions when she was hurt by touching the fire, making him think they burned her- and Garroth turns a side eye to Aaron, who immediately explains she touched it on her own. Garroth cuts in and tells the prince that Aphmau's from a faraway island. Travis invites her out to dinner, but is immediately told that the plan was totally to have them eat on the ship all along- since Garroth can't trust Aphmau to go out on her own. Alfredo almost ruins the lie, until he says he can cook and he's appointed as chef for the evening. Unable to walk, Aph follows Travis by crawling. Aaron refuses to help, since this is Garroth's plan- not his.
Underwater, Zane finds Teony and Katelyn being 'eaten' by sea buns. He tells them to just stand up, foiling the Sea Bun King's plans and chastising the mermaids for their stupidity. The two sentient creatures argue for a bit before Katelyn breaks them up, tired and getting desperate searching for Aphmau. She asks Zane about a mermaid with a purple fin, and he realizes they know Aphmau- and that it can be used to his and Tavari's advantage. He lies to them, but tells them he has a friend who can help them.
Aphmau tells Travis she 'pretty much' grew up in the sea, piquing his interest. She has a flashback to different points of her life in Mariana- playing with Katelyn and Teony as guppies, her biological parents, losing them, and being adopted. She begins to cry, much to Travis' worry and confusion. She runs off into the ship sobbing. Aph ends up hugging one of Garroth's crew members, who immediately comes on to her. Aaron stops him and throws him out. He begins to yell at Aphmau, having thought better of her than someone who listened to Garroth- he only does it because there's something of value in it, but she does it for hair. Her sobbing continues, until he gives in and asks what's wrong. She asks him to rub her tummy to make the feeling of regret go away, (which he declines) and then asks him to sing her a song like Katelyn does when she's sad.
Garroth tries to rush him, slamming on the door to tell him to snap her out of it. Instead of doing what she's asked, Aaron splashes water on her, laughing. In a flash of light, she's transformed into a mermaid- and both of them are shocked.
