Travis is the prince of the island's kingdom, and a main character in 'Mermaid Tales'.
Biography[]
Before the series, he hired the pirate captain Garroth to find the Heart of The Sea, a heart-shaped diamond- all to propose to a maiden of his choosing. He even paid for ship repairs, and for the men needed for the job.
He becomes incredibly annoyed when it's not brought to him, feeling his immense kindness had been taken advantage of. He nearly throws Garroth in prison until the captain presents him with another offer: One in which the pirate will find him a suitable bride within a month- one with a heart of gold.
He accepts, much to his guard Amber's confusion. Amber comes to him hesitantly questioning his decision. He understands her concern, but wants marriage options from every walk of life. Nana~Chan interrupts to let him know that Captain Garroth has found a maiden for him, piquing his interest.
Travis leaves the castle in a more common attire, but gets a bit turned around looking for Garroth's ship. He asks Ivan for directions, and goes on his way. Before Garroth can arrange a real plan with Michi to get the money from the prince, he comes to the ship, shocking the captain. He's a bit suspicious when Garroth claims the maiden is 'still getting ready', especially with his crew's reactions. Garroth has Alfredo thrown off the ship for nearly exposing his lie, something Travis admires. He goes on a short tangent about pirates showing leadership through power, and gets offended when Garroth brushes him off.
He's pleasantly surprised when he meets Aphmau, thinking that the captain wouldn't actually follow through. He asks Aph if they forced her into it, shocked when she (in a misunderstanding) tells him she was burned. Garroth saves it by telling him she's from a faraway island. He organizes a dinner, again pleased to find that Garroth actually had a dinner planned on his ship already, and that he already had a chef. ..Allegedly. He calls Aphmau to come with him, so that he can get to know her before dinner. He becomes confused when she crawls across the deck, but helps her up and they go on their way.
Aphmau tells him she's from the sea, confusing him. But he's excited to hear she loves the sea just as much as he does, and that she's had the opportunity to swim with dolphins. Aph starts to cry reminiscing on home, making him concerned and try to comfort her. She runs off though, and while telling him what happened Travis admits to Garroth he finds her interesting.
Waiting at the table, Prince Travis tells a crew member that as cute as he finds her, he doesn't have true romantic interest yet. Alfredo brings him a crab he caught, that the prince immediately calls ugly and assumes is sick, since Zane's shell is black. When Aphmau begs them not to cook it, he stands up for her, and takes the crab to the edge of the ship to drop it into the water.
He's pulled into the ocean by Teony, shocked to see what he thinks is a mermaid. His hair is cut by the crab, and he's saved by Garroth before he drowns. Travis insists he saw a mermaid, but Garroth tells him he just has the sea-crazies like Aaron did before, and orders his men to get the prince new clothing.
Travis starts to get impatient waiting for his date to return, but also worries about her safety- and how Garroth found a cute and interesting girl to begin with. Amber finds him, and demands he come back with her to the castle. She fights with Garroth until Travis puts his foot down and says he won't be coming back with her. He wants the freedom he has now before he's made king, and he wants the opportunity to have fun and not be a prince. Amber tells him she has to stay if he does, which he agrees to.
Garroth's unhappy with her presence, demanding Travis tell him how many dates he's gone on that he could just have fun on- which was.. none. Amber denies it, recounting a date on which he danced with and then held hands with a maiden in the courtyard. Travis is surprised to find that holding hands isn't as scandalous as he thought, mentally taking notes as Garroth tells him he should've kissed her- not on the cheek, but the lips! He thinks it's incredible that Garroth's had 23 girlfriends, and even has to ask if it's true that he had them all at once when he says it.
When Aphmau arrives with Aaron, Amber draws her sword. She tells Travis that Aaron planned to sell Aphmau, shocking him. He opts to continue the date to find out if Aphmau is being held here against her will, which Amber begrudgingly accepts.
He asks Aphmau how she feels about becoming a princess, confused when she says she already is one. She starts to ramble about her adoption, mentioning Princess Katelyn and piquing his interest. Their dinner arrives before she answers, though, and he starts to eat. Travis notices Aph isn't eating though, and becomes worried. When she begins to eat extremely quickly he finds it endearing and matches her pace, admiring a lady who can eat. She even has seconds.
After she's finished eating he stands and takes her hand, intending to kiss her as Garroth taught him. He asks if she wants the same thing as him, which she misunderstands- and she asks for more food, brushing him off. It's awkward, but he admits he should've specified more, so it's his fault. He sits and tells her their seafood dinner is quite good though, prompting her to ask what seafood is. She claims to have had it before, but that seafood here tastes different than seafood where she's from.
He starts to explain, laughing a bit, and telling her that it's fish- flounder, lobster, shark, salmon... anything from the sea. When Alfredo explains cutting up the bass in depth, she vomits off the side of the ship. He wonders if she's allergic, reassuring her that the other fish will eat what she throws up and making it worse. Having some vomit on his shirt, he's ushered off by Amber to change his clothes.
Just in time to have Ivan arrested, him and Amber appear on the beach with swords drawn. He demands they get Katelyn and Teony to safety. When they're on the ship, he reassures Aphmau that her friends are safe and alive, since they're breathing. He can't help but stare at Katelyn after noticing her tiara, getting scolded by Amber. He gets embarrassed when Aphmau tells him to kiss her, just like in 'The Clam Prince' (which Amber corrects to 'The Frog Prince'). Once the girls wake up, he's confused along with everyone else when they speak their native language.
When Redbeard boards the ship and Garroth admits to ratting them out, Travis is deeply wounded- as he really did trust him. The prince is restrained, and the plan to take him for ransom is almost done when Teony accidentally reveals to everyone that they're mermaids. Travis is just as shocked as the others, apparently not having recognized her from before.
He agrees with Amber when she runs to the mermaids' defense, appalled to find out now that Amber used to be part of Redbeard's crew. He asks her if it's true, but sets it aside and fights alongside her against the pirates. He's unfortunately knocked aside and tied up with everyone else, (including Garroth,) left to die when Redbeard sets the ship aflame. Travis admits to Amber that he's okay with dying here, as the entire mess was his own fault.
After Aphmau frees everyone and they leave the burning ship, Travis quickly changes gears to saving the mermaids, as he truly feels their kidnapping is his own fault and no one else's. Amber hands him her sword, telling him she'll go get the guard- and that she can't mother him his whole life, since he can handle himself well. She tells him to go save the mermaids, and that she believes in him to do it. When Garroth tries to back out, Travis threatens him and scares him into coming with.
He and Garroth hide behind a crate in front of the ship Teony is caged on, taking out the measly three guards one by one as they go to investigate the noises they're making. They get onto the deck and Travis starts to unlock the cage, but they're ambushed by Redbeard's crew that was hiding in wait. Amber swoops in to save the day with the village guard, demanding him and Garroth go on to help Aaron instead. Travis arrives on the other ship and tries to sneakily attack Redbeard, but he's knocked back. He and Garroth stab the two pirates who came with him when Redbeard is defeated by them, and he unlocks Katelyn's cage for her.
Travis watches the mermaids leave with everyone else. Before they go, he arranges a deal with Princess Katelyn, so that the human and mermaid worlds can find peace once the two of them become king and queen of their kingdoms. He goes back to the same spot every day, though he hears nothing for at least three months, and it's unknown when or if he ever does.
Appearance[]
Travis has white hair, with bright green eyes. On his throne, he wears a dark green coat with golden accents, and a golden crown. He wears brown pants, and black shoes.
When he comes to Garroth's ship for his date, he wears a forest green flannel jacket, with cuffed blue pants and black boots. After changing out of his dirtied 'pirate' clothes, he wears a different blue shirt that wraps from left over to the right.
Personality[]
He seems to be a kind and fair ruler, but he doesn't take being deceived too lightly, as shown when Garroth had to confess that he lost The Heart of the Sea. However, he is reasonable and gave Garroth another chance to make up for his actions. Travis is quite naive, since he still thinks that holding hands is some sort of scandalous act, and needs Captain Garroth to tell him that he should kiss a lady he's fond of on the lips, rather than the cheek.

Trivia[]
- In "Mermaids Attack!", Garroth orders his crew to get Travis new clothes. For some reason, this never happens, and Travis stays in the same outfit until "Mermaids ARE REAL!".
