Vance is a minor character in Heart Point. He dated Aphmau before the series' start and broke up with her at the very beginning.
Biography[]
He is first seen breaking up with Aphmau at the café, awkwardly letting her know that he's dumped her for Cassidy, from his track team. Vance begs her not to cry because they're in public, but still tries to make sure she's okay despite everything. He's shocked when at his track practice later in the day, Nakano swears to destroy him in the race.
In "He Confesses...?" he's seen in the background while Cassidy announces to everyone that they're both running for prom royalty. It's news to him, too, and she didn't tell him before the announcement.
Cassidy later berates him for a B- in his public speaking class, mocking and belittling him all the way- even calling him a delinquent. Though he tries to reason with her, she argues that despite all her business she still manages to get good grades and go over his college application merits. She then heads off and tells him not to forget about their biweekly, pre-planned lunch. He seems to have forgotten, and she's frustrated that he's seemingly not even using the planner she bought him, telling him she'll talk to her parents about getting him a personal assistant to organize his schedule for him. He seems tired and uninterested, sighing as she leaves.
He bumps into Aphmau in the hallway, shocked to see her. Though she tries to run past, he stops her, and starts profusely apologizing. For everything- for what he did to her, the way he did it, everything. And that maybe he shouldn't have even broken up with her in the first place. He asks to be her friend, which she declines- and he understands. She sticks a fuzzy corgi sticker to his face, and tells him everything's going to be okay. He can't help but start crying, and when she leaves, he regains a heart for her.
While Aphmau breaks up with Cyrus, Cassidy and Vance talk at another table across the room. Cass says that they've been official for a while now (even though it's only been two weeks,) and that she's upset with Vance having talked to Aphmau, his ex-girlfriend, twenty minutes beforehand. He's shocked to hear that she knows, since it was only twenty minutes ago in an empty hallway. He insists he was just checking in on her, and Cassidy immediately points out the sticker on his face, asking rhetorically if she gave him that as thanks. That seems to be a last straw for Vance. He tells Cassidy that he's clearing his schedule and won't see her until prom, much to her shock and anger. He yells at her to give him a breather, and runs out.
Vance appears twice in "FACE-OFF!", the first being at Aphmau's dorm. He comes to the door, now with two hearts towards her, and begs for her forgiveness.. before asking her to the prom. He becomes sad again when she slams the door in his face, apologizing again and again. He understands her reaction though, and tells her he got her a gift. He lets her know she can just throw them in the trash, but he slides a sticker sheet (implied to be planner stickers bought for him by Cassidy,) under the door, and tells her he hopes she's happy no matter what.
He's then seen arguing with Nakano. He ran into their lane and stood in front of them to stop the race, because he swears he saw them start the race a full two seconds before it was meant to begin. They both fight until Aphmau breaks them up, telling Vance the track captain shouldn't be starting fights. He reluctantly tells her that Cassidy is actually the captain now, Nakano chiming in to say that Cassidy is on a 'post-breakup revitalizing retreat' because he suddenly dumped her. When Vance reveals he broke up with her for Aphmau, Nakano starts to become agitated again.
Vance finds out through Aphmau's apology to Nakano that she has a boyfriend, much to his disappointment. Aphmau lets him know that she appreciated his apology, but that she knows she's just a rebound for Cass, and that it won't work out between them as friends or otherwise. She tells him that she still wants him to be happy, and sticks a sticker to his face like she did to Nakano. He gains a star when she asks him if he's going to be okay.
At the prom, Vance mopes around. He waits in the wings while Cassidy is crowned prom dictator, and even in their prom pictures he's only actually in one, because his face is covered by Cass' arm in the other.
Appearance[]
Vance has bright and short blonde hair, along with deep blue eyes. He opts to, instead of wearing the school uniform, wear his track uniform under a blue school jacket. He ditches the jacket for track practice, wearing his orange shirt with the school crest instead.
To the prom he wears a simple black suit with a blue tie.
Personality[]
Not much is known about Vance's normal personality, as he spends most of his time in the series heartbroken. However, he's a bit awkward, and awful at communicating his feelings. Though he doesn't seem to have malicious intent, he's also oblivious to other people's feelings, such as when he dumps Cassidy for Aphmau, thinking she will take him back.
