The Void, otherwise known as the Empty or the Emptiness, is a recurring force across a multitude of Aphmau's roleplays. The void serves as an all-powerful phenomenon that consumes and corrupts realms, Minecraft servers, mobs, and people, and it also encompasses all dimensions and alternate realities in the web of the multiverse. The void has a consistent appearance in all iterations: a purple and black substance that delivers burn scars, deemed "void burn", upon contact. The void's ultimate goal is to make every realm in the multiverse fade into nonexistence.
Minecraft Diaries[]
In The Baby Showers PT.2 the episode begins in the Nether with a chuck of it shown to be infected with the Void, later in the episode Zane's rituals were shown to cause the void (at that point being called "Barrier rip") to spread through Phoenix Drop and incase Alexis who was teleported to him where he then turned her into a Shadow Knight (whether the act of turning her into a shadow knight has a direct connection to the void or not is unknown). In "The Baby Showers PT.3", we see that Zane's house was full of void, with a small entrance to an area with a mysterious figure that is believed to have has some kind connection to the void, but soon faded away. The void is seen once again in "Journey to Wolves" in the cellars where Zenix formerly kept Lord Burt, and again inside Malachi's Castle in "Garroth's Past" behind a couple of closed doors.
The Void Infected areas was fixed in the next episode "Smile" by Aphmau with the help of Emmalyn and Raven, through creating a Statue of Lady Irene with a fragment of Ungrth's soul and materials from the Wyverns that channels Magicks, Irene created to fix Void infected areas or "Barrier Rip".
In Minecraft Diaries Season 2 the void is seen again, first in "Her Power" when Aphmau, after discovering she has Irene's powers, tries to open a portal to the Irene Dimension. She fails and ends up void burning herself, but she is saved by Zoey.
The Void is then seen in "His Choice" when Aaron uses a divine fragment from the divine warrior Kul'zak’s grave to travel to the Irene Dimension and save Garroth, Aaron himself is seen covered in void burns as a result of traveling between dimensions.
Later on, the Void is then mentioned as “the empty“ in the episode “A Talk with Shad” where in a flashback it is mentioned that Irene was “pushing it back,“ but needed and created The Divine Relics for the other Divine Warriors in order to help her.
MyStreet[]
In “End of a Lifetime” Aaron is seen in his Ultima form lying next to Aphmau (Minecraft Diaries) void burned presumably due to him traveling dimension from Aphmau pulling him into the second Irene Dimension in the previous episode “Gone“. He is inflicted with fresh void burn.
In "Reborn PT.1" when seeing Aaron, both Lucinda and Ghost recognizes the void burns with ghost stating she’s seen them once before. Aaron's burns eventually heal in the finale, appearing a slightly softer and flesh-colored purple.
Near the end of "Reborn PT.3" after saving Zack by teleporting him Elizabeth and him talk about how their world has limited time that Michael told them about “the realm theory” indicating that each realm will fade (the implication being that the void is going consume the MyStreet world).
VOID Paradox[]
The Void is the main focus of Void Paradox, as it destroyed Professor Modzilla's world and threated to destroy the world of Mod Mod World as well. The Void is the main antagonistic force of VOID Paradox. It has been consuming dimensions and has been theorized to react to disturbances in the multiverse. The void is shown to have many abilities such as creating Void clones (known as alters), possessing people with Void burns, mimicking memories of people, teleportation, and consuming worlds. The sentience of the Void is debatable, as it had created temporary clones of Laurance and Zane. According to Professor Modzilla, the Void's ultimate goal is to revert all dimensions to their primordial state: nothing.
Aphmau SMP[]
The Void also made its way into Aphmau's SMP server on rare occasions, starting in "Becoming VOID APHMAU in Minecraft!," in which it infected KC and Aphmau. The former was given sculk-like void burns while the latter was granted powers. The Void has also been shown manifesting itself into the form of a woman.
Void Burns[]
When someone is exposed to the void, usually by traveling or attempting to travel between dimensions, it causes something known either as a void burn or as being “marked by the empty”. Purplish markings that burn the DNA are known to be extremely painful and lethal in large enough amounts. Wyverns, due to their large strength and exceptionally strong skin, do have a resistance to the negative effects of the Void burns, but can still be overcome if the burns are severe enough, as seen with Ungrth, who's void burns coated his entire body and gave him the appearance of an Ender Dragon before he faded away. Void burns may have a genetic factor, as they have been stated to burn DNA, and Tommy, a clone of Professor Modzilla, didn't have his void burns at first, but inherited them as they slowly manifested in the years between Mod Mod World and VOID Paradox. Curing void burns is incredibly difficult, but not impossible. Though Professor Modzilla has not been able to figure how, Zoey was able to cure severe voids burns with some kind of orb, and Aaron (MyStreet)’s void burns were cured through unknown means between MyStreet Season 6 and Her Wish, possibly by Lucinda (MyStreet), a witch who theorized that she may be able to help if she had the right resources. In Aphmau's modern videos, some void burns look more similar to sculk while others simply turn the individual purple.
Known Victims:
- Ungrth: (Burned in "Sacrifice Made") (Caused by Dimension travelling to the Nether and back) (Uncured, died)
- Aphmau (Minecraft Diaries S2): (Burned in "Her Power") (Caused by attempting to open a portal to Irene's Dimension) (cured by Zoey in "Her Power")
- Aaron (Burned in "His Choice"): (Caused by traveling to and destroying Irene's Dimension) (Cured??? was next seen without the burns and possessed by the Shadow Lord)
- Aaron (MyStreet): (Presumably burned at the end of "Gone", first seen in "End of a Lifetime") (Caused by Aphmau (Minecraft Diaries S3) pulling him into the second Irene Dimension) (cured sometime after "Reborn PT.3" but before "A New Visitor")
- Professor Modzilla (Mod Mod World): (Burned before start of Mod Mod World) (Caused by his experiment teleporting him to another dimension) (Uncured)
- Tommy (Mod Mod World): (Manifested between Mod Mod World and VOID Paradox) (Inherited from Professor Modzilla due to being his clone) (Uncured)
- Aphmau (Mod Mod World): (Burned in "Aphmau In Danger") (Caused by being cut by Void Laurence) (Uncured)
- Several mysteriously appearing unstable individuals in VOID Paradox (Burned when ???) (Caused by ???) (Uncured)
- KC (Aphmau SMP) (Burned in "Becoming VOID APHMAU in Minecraft!") (Caused by ???) (Cured)
- Aphmau (Aphmau SMP) (Burned in "Becoming VOID APHMAU in Minecraft!") (Caused by falling into the Void) (Cured)
- Infected zombies and wardens that appeared in "Becoming VOID APHMAU in Minecraft!" (Burned when ???) (Caused by ???) (Uncured)
Marked by the Empty[]
Another term for Void Burning is being "Marked by the Empty". This terminology, however, has only been used by the characters from the Minecraft Diaries dimension. Other characters used different terms. For example, (in Reborn PT.1) Lucinda (MyStreet) just called them Void burns, meanwhile Ghost, the ghost of a character from MCD (Emmalyn), referred to them as both Void burns and as "He's been marked by the emptiness, the void", which is not too strange as MCD characters have been known to use different terminology than characters in other universes for many things other than calling Void burning being marked by the empty, such as calling the Void “the Emptiness”, or calling Dimensions "Realms".
The void has also been shown to mark objects and non-creatures, however when this happens thus far it has only been referred to as being marked and not as a Void Burn, it has mostly been seen in VOID Paradox but also occasionally in Minecraft Diaries. The Void Marking things seems to be the main way it consumes things. For example, when it consumed Professor Modzilla's world, it appeared to mark everything and then caused everything to start vanishing (presumably being pulled into the Void).
Trivia[]
- Other possible names for the Void are Barrier rip due to its association to rips in the realm barriers (ex. Smile), Darkness (ex. The Baby Showers PT.3) the corrupt, and Jelly (yes, they actually called it Jelly) (ex. Saving Aaron from the Void).
- According to Raven, the void may also have a connection to magicks and can be used by evil to manipulate nature and time but at a cost to their life force.
- There have been many inconsistencies with earlier depictions of the Void in some of Jessica Bravura’s older roleplays and the new ones, such as the names, its connection to magicks, and some of its properties, this is most likely due to her developing and retconning (?) older ideas to better fit the new stories she wants to tell.
- The divine warrior Lady Irene may have had the power to counter the Void. In A Talk with Shad it was stated that she would "Push back the empty" and created the The Divine Relics and the other Divine Warriors to help her, in Smile, a statue channeling Irene's Magicks was used to restore the village of the "Barrier rip" (again believed to be a synonym for the void due to their extremely similar properties and descriptions), and Raven also said in the episode that Irene would often repair the damage caused by her crossing through the Realm Barriers.
- There is a mysterious figure that is believed to have has some kind connection to the void, it was seen in The Baby Showers PT.3 in a realm connected to Zane's house. Not much is known about it other than it appeared to recognize Aphmau, that it wanted to go home, could not leave the pocket realm, and was called the heart of the shadow lord by Zane. It's connection to the Void was reinforced Years after it was last seen or mentioned by the Mini-game "Saving Aaron from the Void" a Void centered Mini-game where we see when tagged they turned into a Figure very similar to the one from the MCD.
- In the Aphmau SMP, there was the appearance of something similar to the Void called the Null, which was first shown in "Becoming NULL APHMAU in Minecraft!".
