[Gene is kneeling in front of a throne.]
Gene: Your grace. Lord Malik of Phoenix Drop has been slain. He suffered a painful death by my hands. I have carried out what you have asked of me. I feel I am worthy of a place among the jury-
Zane: You're lying.
Gene: Tch!
Zane: You carried out what was asked of you. Tell me, what exactly did I ask?
Gene: You asked... of my men to slay the lord of Phoenix Drop.
Zane: Heh heh heh. Your men?
Gene: [muffled] Of us...
Zane: Please, call yourselves as you are.
Gene: [sigh] You asked of the Shadow Knights...
[Gene pulls out a knife behind his back.]
Gene: ...to slay the lord of Phoenix Drop.
Zane: I'm sorry. I couldn't hear that. Could you, Janus?
Janus: Couldn't hear it either.
Zane: What about you, Lillian?
[Lillian points a sword at Gene.]
Lillian: I think he... cut some details.
Zane: Care to say that again?
Gene: You asked the Shadow Knights to slay the lord of Phoenix Drop. ...And his family.
Zane: And did you?
Gene: His wife and child escaped.
Zane: Lillian.
[Lillian cuts off Gene's ear.]
Gene: [grunts]
Zane: If you show your face to me again without their bodies, it will be more than just your ear.
Gene: [grunts]
Zane: Get out.
[Gene stands up and leaves the room. Zane stands up and walks to the window.]
Janus: We should've killed him. Can we let him go so easily?
Zane: Yes. We have greater plans to set in motion. Besides, he and his group are Shadow Knights. They pose no threat to us.
Lillian: Shadow Knights will eventually cave into themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if treachery runs abundant in their group already.
Janus: Aren't Shadow Knights just reanimated from-
Zane: Enough! Are the other Jury scouting the land?
Lillian: Yes. Ivan and Katelyn are scouting the south while Ivy and Jeffory are in the west. The others are on seperate missions.
Janus: [grunts] I'm of the impression looking for your brother is futile. It's been a long time since he disappeared.
Lillian: The search isn't just for that. It's also for a power that lies in slumber.
Janus: You mean-
Zane: My brother... It's not about finding him. It's about making sure the future of O'Khasis stays in the right hands. Make sure the Shadow Knights are watched. If any of them go rogue, let's make sure it's in our favor. Dismissed.
Lillian & Janus: Yes, sir.
[Lillian disappears and Janus exits the room.]
Zane: I know it exists and it will be mine.
[Fade to Gene walking in a forest outside of O'Khasis.]
Sasha: Gene! Your ear!
Gene: It's nothing. They forgot the hell we were born from.
Sasha: It's still painful, Gene. This trip was for not it seems.
Gene: No. This trip just shows me if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Come, Sasha. Not only are we going to make sure the traitor among us watches his precious village suffer, but we'll also find the power Zane seeks.
Sasha: Zane seeks power in the name of Irene. Do you really want to indulge his false fantasy?
Gene: I care not about his foolish beliefs! I only care about what benefits we get from him. We're gonna play his game for now, but he'll regret every move he makes. Let's go.
[Gene and Sasha walk off.]
[Garroth and Aphmau stand in an empty crop patch.]
Garroth: You've already been asked a lot of, but... I need you to perform your miracle again!
[Aphmau's eyes go wide.]
Garroth: Again, it's bad enough that you've been dragged into this, but this is the one chance I have of saving Phoenix Drop. You've already bought us time by pretending to be the lord. For that, I am grateful. But this lie won't last long unless we can sustain it.
Aphmau: ...
Garroth: Please!
Aphmau: Uh-, I-I'll try.
[Aphmau kneels down, touching the dirt.]
Garroth: What's wrong?
Aphmau: Well I- I don't know how I did what I did before. It wasn't something I was meaning to do.
Garroth: Th-then how did you do it?
Aphmau: I felt it hurting... the soil. I wanted to help it. And then... it happened.
Garroth: You felt it hurting!
[Aphmau stands up.]
Aphmau: Yes.
Zenix: [yelling] Sir Garroth! Dale's gone rogue again, and he's drunk off his a- What are you doing here?
Garroth: I want Lady Aphmau here to perform her miracle.
Zenix: [laughs] Oh, now I gotta see!
Garroth: You still doubt my word?
Zenix: Yes. Not because I doubt you, but because you've been desperate lately for anything to work. Trust me when I say, people do and see odd things in their time of desperation.
Garroth: M'lady, please.
[Donna walks up.]
Donna: What's going on here?
Zenix: Garroth is convinced Aphmau here can do magic.
Garroth: I saw it!
Donna: Really now? Heh, I don't doubt that could be true. But from Aphmau here?
Garroth: I promise! I know what I saw! She healed the soil around the crops.
Donna: Did you, Aphmau?
Aphmau: Yes, I did.
Donna: I believe you.
Zenix: There's no way. If she did that, then why isn't she doing it now?
Garroth: Zenix, just-! Huh... Please, can you do it again?
[Aphmau kneels down and touches the soil again. Sean Connery runs up behind and bites Zenix's ankle.]
Zenix: Ow! You-!
[Zenix pulls out his sword and chases after Sean Connery.]
Zenix: I'll kill you!
[Aphmau's markings start glowing and turning white.]
Donna: Wow!
[Aphmau's markings return to normal and a few blocks of grass are healed.]
Garroth: I knew it.
[Visher jumps over a fence and throws a blanket over Aphmau.]
Garroth: What the-
Visher: For your own safety. It's best you don't go about showing what you're truly capable of.
Donna: Visher!
Garroth: What are you doing?! She was healing the crops!
Visher: We need to talk in private.
[Donna hugs Visher.]
Donna: Visher, I'm so glad you're safe!
Visher: Heh... no need to worry about me, Donna. But I thank you.
Aphmau: Your clothes...
Visher: It's nothing. Donna, can you find us a room where we can all speak in private?
Donna: Of course. Follow me.
[Donna and Visher walk off. Aphmau stands up and follows them.]
Garroth: But the- [sigh] Fine.
[Garroth follows them. Zenix walks back to the area.]
Zenix: Stupid rat! I- W-where did they go?
[Visher walks up the stairs.]
Donna: Looking good, Visher. Sorry about the basic clothes. It's really all I got.
Visher: [laughs] Anything works, Donna. Just remind me, I owe you the favor.
Donna: Mighty worried about you, though. Scared me half to death while you were missin'.
Visher: Heh... Please Donna, this isn't about me. Now let's get down to business.
Garroth: Indeed. Why were your clothes missing?
Visher: It's not important. What I- What is important is what I saw out there in the crop field.
Donna: Gotta admit, I was surprised too. I didn't think little Aphmau here had the ability to-
Visher: She must never show it to anyone else.
[Garroth and Donna's voices overlap.]
Donna: Wha?!
Garroth: What?!
Aphmau: What do you mean?
Visher: As a merchant, I travel far and wide. I hear stories and I see truths with my own eyes. Donna, it's been some time since you've been a traveling merchant, but a lot is changing with the world, and it's happening so fast. What's happening here in Phoenix Drop isn't just happening here, of which I'm sure you're aware, Sir Garroth.
Garroth: I'm aware.
Visher: Then I'm sure to some degree you have been hearing about the mysterious disappearances happening across the land. People have been going missing or suddenly die due to an unknown fate. However, as I've traveled I've begun to notice one thing these people have in common is the fact that they are powerful in some way, shape, or form. They possess a certain type of magic, influence, or skill that is considered to be of power. And one by one, they are being picked off.
Donna: But, could that just be coinsidence? We already know people don't take kindly to witchcraft nor magic folk.
Visher: The rate and pattern it's happening at, this is no coinsidence.
Garroth: So how does this affect us?
Visher: Affect us? No, no, no. The question you should be asking is: how is this going to kill Aphmau?
Garroth: What?!
[Visher kneels down next to Aphmau.]
Visher: You may not remember who you are, but you know you are special. The power you hold, you must never show to anyone outside of this room.
Aphmau: Why?
Visher: Heh, because if word gets out about you, you'll be the target of many seeking power. Some are willing to take that chance and live revealed. But you... You have no memory of who you are. Poeple will surely take advantage of that. Besides, Uncle Visher doesn't want to see you die. No one here does.
Garroth: Visher, with all due respect, could this just be a merchant's rumor? I doubt anyone would pay attention to a remote village such as ours.
Visher: You'd be surprised. All I know is it's in the best interest if we keep this between us in this room. Not even your most trusted men should know, Garroth.
Garroth: I can vouch for-
Visher: Trust me, Garroth. People do stupid things when they discover power.
Donna: Do you have any idea who may be killing people with magic, witchcraft, or... any kind of power and stuff?
Visher: Not a clue. I just know it's been happening more and more and I've got a bad feeling about it.
Garroth: [sigh] M'lady, I'm sorry putting you in harm's way. I just... need a moment for now. Please, pardon me.
[Garroth walks downstairs. Aphmau tears up.]
Donna: H-hey! Aphmau! Uh, maybe you should take a walk, okay? Just to clear your head. And don't you worry about any magic nor witchcraft stuff right now. Just... go take a breather. You've already had a hectic day with becoming lord and all.
Visher: Lord?
Donna: Yup!
Visher: Wow! What did I miss? [laughs]
Aphmau: Th-thank you.
[Aphmau stands up and walks downstairs.]
Donna: You know, you had me scared to death, Visher. Guards say they saw a werewolf outside the gates and I immedietly knew who it was.
Visher: Mmm, maybe the werewolf wanted to check on his merchandise?
Donna: Visher! You know you're gonna get yourself killed.
Visher: Heh heh, lighten up, Donna. But you know, mysterious things are beginning to happen around the world. It's best you stay on your feet.
Donna: Heh! That's been me ever since I was a baby!
Visher: Since you were a baby?
Donna: Yep! Don't question it or I won't tell you where I put your merchandise.
[Donna and Visher laugh.]
Visher: But seriously, give me my things.
[Visher and Donna walk downstairs.]
[Aphmau walks into Emmalyn's library, Sean Connery following her.]
Emmalyn: Ugh! Great! I was having a nice evening until you came back.
Aphmau: I'm sorry.
Emmalyn: Hmph! Well you better be! Last time you came back, you used one of my books for fire!
Aphmau: Isn't that what they're used for?
Emmalyn: I already told you a billion times! They're used for reading! I swear, you and Donna share the same head of rocks!
[Emmalyn walks off.]
Aphmau: Hey, Emmalyn. Why do you red?
Emmalyn: Huh?
Aphmau: Why is redding so important to you?
Emmalyn: Ugh! Reading!
Aphmau: Yeah! That.
Emmalyn: Because it gives me joy. But not only that, it allows me to know more of our Lady Irene!
Aphmau: Who?
[Emmalyn gasps and hunches over.]
Emmalyn: Drweiahjgfjvji who?!
Aphmau: I don't know who that is.
Emmalyn: Were you born under a rock or something?!
Aphmau: Garroth said I was found in the forest.
Emmalyn: [sigh] Okay. Fine! Then at least I get to talk about Lady Irene more. Achem! Lady Irene is our lord and savior! She-
Aphmau: But I'm the lord.
Emmalyn: Wha-? No you aren't.
Aphmau: Yes I am.
Emmalyn: No. You aren't.
Aphmau: I am. Garroth told me so.
Emmalyn: Okay, look. Garroth says lots of things. You probably heard him wrong.
Aphmau: No, he probably thought it was a good idea after Brendan suggested it.
Emmalyn: [laughs] There is no way you are the lord.
[Emmalyn and Aphmau are now standing outside.]
Emmalyn: Why did you make her lord?!
Garroth: I just told you, Emmalyn! It was caught up in a lie bigger than us!
Emmalyn: Well then tell the truth!
Garroth: No! She's going to be our lord, end of story!
Emmalyn: You don't understand! Ugh! A lord is supposed to be smart or threatening or some kind of useful. Do you know how useful she is?! She burns my books!
Garroth: Oh, you mean the kindle.
Emmalyn: No! I mean books! Like knowledge! The thing that keeps people alive?
Zenix: Swords keep people alive.
Garroth: So does food. The thing we need.
Aphmau: And so do houses! I've never seen a house made of books.
Zenix: Fire keeps people alive too, and books are great for fire!
Emmalyn: Oh my Irene! You're all stupid! I hate you all!
[Emmalyn walks off.]
Aphmau: Wait! You didn't finish telling me about Lady Irene!
Garroth: Huh? You mean you don't know about her?
Aphmau: N-no. I-I don't.
Garroth: Hm. Then to give you the short story, Lady Irene is our god of whom we praise and worship. The stories around her are plentiful and her deeds are tremendous. She was kind and...
Zenix: Powerful. Don't forget that.
Aphmau: I'd love to meet her someday.
[Zenix snickers.]
Garroth: She's not alive anymore. She hasn't been for many many years.
Aphmau: Why not?
Garroth: She aged or vanished I guess. Not many people speak of how she left this world because not many know. In fact, not many know more beyond her acomplishments.
Aphmau: Really?
Zenix: Sir Garroth! We have to get to patrol now.
Garroth: Right! But this reminds me. We have to rightfully christen Aphmau into being a lord. Even if it's just pretend for now. We'll do that later. For now, let's get to our patrol.
[Zenix walks off.]
Garroth: And by the way, I'm sorry about before. I can't deny, when it's just us, I'd like to try to heal the land again.
[Garroth walks off.]
Aphmau: R-right!
[Visher places a hand on Aphmau's shoulder.]
Visher: So Donna filled me in on this elaborate little lie you've caught yourself into.
Aphmau: She... did?
Visher: Yes, and it's quite noble of you to do this for a village you barely even know.
Aphmau: Should I be... scared?
Visher: [laughs] Yes, and well, no. But mostly yes. But you are going to do great things, and I can feel it. But a lord without a house of their own doesn't seem to threatening, does it? We need to get you a new place. But where can we build? Hm... Ah! There on that hill!
[Visher points at the hill.]
Aphmau: Huh?
Visher: It's a great spot to overlook the village. A lord should make sure her people are okay, you know.
Aphmau: R-really? But, I can't build a house on my own, I-
Visher: I'll help! Hahaha! It's the least I can do for you helping the village where my friend Donna stays.
Brendan: I-I'll help too!
Visher: Where the hell did you come from?
Brendan: I heard Emmalyn yelling and I thought I should investigate. Either way, I'll help.
Visher: Hahaha! The more, the merrier! Well then, you have my hand.
[Brendan holds out his hammer.]
Brendan: And my hammer!
Dale: And my beer!
[Dale falls to the ground.]
Dale: I wanna help too!
Aphmau: Really? Th-thank you!
Visher: Hah ha! Now let Uncle Visher help with the layout.
[Visher and Brendan walk off. Aphmau starts to drag Dale.]
Brendan: I can help with that too!
Visher: Alright then! All of us, let's go!
[Visher, Brendan, and Aphmau dragging Dale all walk towards the hill.]
