Zex is the secondary antagonist in My Inner Demons.
Biography[]
Zex appears as both a familiar spirit to Lady Bish and a Daemos throughout the series. It is unclear whether he is a Daemos who is capable of disguising himself as a spirit or a spirit who is capable of transforming into a Daemos. He works under Lady Bish, acting as her companion in spirit form and carrying out her orders in Daemos form.
When he arrives on Earth, he threatens two humans and steals their clothes in order to blend in. As Ava is taking out her trash, she runs into Zex. He states that he is lost and asks for her help. He follows Ava up to her apartment and enters, to her surprise.
The other Daemos are obviously intimidated by Zex, revealed by their internal monologues. Leif even states that he's one of the strongest assassins on Daemos, and the five of them may not be enough to take him down. He sits down on the couch with the other Daemos watching his every move. When Ava brings the sandwiches, he teleports behind her and puts his dagger to her throat. The other Daemos bring out their weapons but hesitate to attack. Zex laughs at this. He reveals to Ava that the other Daemos were using her and that their mission was to take humans back to Daemos to harvest their souls for magic, which causes them to lose Ava's trust. Asch agrees to go with Zex on the condition that he lets Ava go, but Zex intends to bring Ava to Daemos with them. Zex pulls out the potion to teleport all of them back to Daemos and Rhys runs to Ava and casts a spell on her to give her horns. The potion hits the floor, and everyone is teleported to Daemos. However, the potion affects Ava differently, and she is teleported to the castle steps far from the others. Zex starts looking for Ava and gets away while the rest of the Daemos try to find Ava themselves.
Appearance[]
Zex has black hair (or fur in his cat form), tan skin, and one bright green eye. His other eye seems to have been lost due to an injury, though the circumstances of that injury are yet to be known. It is covered with an X-shaped scar. His Daemos form notably lacks horns. He has a tattoo on his right shoulder of what seems to be an intricate symbol of a cat.
He wears a mid-thigh length black vest with golden linings secured by a black belt with white borders and a pair of black pants. He sports black wrappings around his forearms and a strap slung in front of him akin to a sling bag, which indicates that he may be carrying something. He doesn't sport any undershirt underneath his vest.
In his human disguise, he is shown to wear dark clothing, consisting of a dark t-shirt, a plaid gray overshirt, a pair of dark trousers, and shoes.
Personality[]
Zex appears to be deceptive and manipulative. He seems to enjoy threatening people and causing both physical and emotional harm, but he is primarily concerned with carrying out orders. His loyalty to Lady Bish as his superior dictates most of his actions. He is more calculating than some of the other Daemos and is more likely to think before he acts. However, he may be prone to acting impulsively on occasion, as shown when he nearly kills Ava on the sidewalk.
